Health data collection

In addition to performance tests, health data are collected with a view to focusing breeding on more resilient cows as well as improving the efficiency and profitability of dairy herds. In the long term, health data collection allows to draw direct breeding values for health traits and, last but not least, strengthens Swiss genetics vis-à-vis other international players. Test farms are required to collect health data in compliance with the test agreement. By recording diagnoses and treatments on BrunaNet, the requirements of the Ordinance on veterinary medical products are fulfilled. Breeders can benefit from this service even more, if they use these data within the framework of a herd health monitoring program.
