Brown Cattle originally come from Switzerland. Braunvieh Schweiz is a federation that represents the interests of Brown Cattle breeders, keeps the herdbook and carries out performance tests and breeding value estimations.

Original Braunvieh

Original Braunvieh are Brown Cattle with still pure Swiss Braunvieh blood. OB is a resilient dual purpose breed. The Swiss Original Braunvieh Association aims at preserving OB breeding.

Services

Braunvieh Schweiz offers members and customers a wide range of services, among which milk performance tests, lab analyses and herdbook services. Other products are available in areas such as breeding value estimation, shows and exhibitions, printing and export.

Braunvieh Schweiz – Breeding value estimation

The phenotypic information that can be observed is divided into two categories: genetics and environment. The breeding value is an estimated value expressing the genetic predisposition of an animal to a specific trait.
